this phone good and recommend to buy oneplus 11r instead nothing 2
I thought though that it would lag or struggle to run but to my surprise me that this og is running "Hitman blood money" fluidly without any lag. So I guess that answers the power of this device;)
I'm still using op 5 and it's been more than 6.5 years. I'm getting 5.5 hrs SOT right now in it.
incoherent, 10 Aug 2023Sad I'm going to have to recycle this 5 series phone - battery life (second battery 2 yrs... moreThe closest to this phone you can get is a Nokia 8

Anonymous, 03 Oct 2023It's been 6 years I'm still using this phone and it's run like butter 👍I could not agree more. Even though the hardware and the design of the phone resembles an old phone in 2023, the working of the phone and the overall performance of the phone still holds up. When it comes to everyday usage, its still as smooth as butter
Its time to try with 11,I am sad, bateri is almost like new, from 2017 I hope 11 will be the same

After using it since launch, it's finally time my OnePlus 5 retired. I remember getting this because i wanted something that would last me more than a couple years (screw planned obscelesence) and wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. After 6 years of service, i can say this phone delivered as i never had an issue with memory, storage, or battery life. The processor started to show its age in newer games but i was never much of a mobile gamer anyway. This might still be my daily driver if I didn't start caring to take photos. It still rarely sees some use whenever there is something that absolutely requires google services with no workaround on my p60 pro.
It was a good run, buddy.
This is a still a great phone for privacy advocates, because it is fully supported for DivestOS (Privacy focused LineageOS, Android 13). So everything works, incl. locking the Bootloader, which adds a lot of security on the OS. Surely, there is a slight remaining risk as this device receives no more firmware updates, but for most people the threat model doesn't justify the panic.
Compromise compared to the privacy focused state of the art (Pixel + GrapheneOS): No Google Play Services (sandboxed), no up2date firmware, worse camera, less performance.
Benefits compared to the Pixel: Phone is more light weight, less overheating of the phone, very good value for your money.
In regards of the camera: It is possible to side load Google's camera from Gcam Hub (port by Arnova8G2). If you then install Google Photos without network permission via Aurora Store you end up with a better experience and photos than the stock ever delivered thanks to Google's great algorithm, it still can't compete with nowadays standards, though.
I got this phone for ridiculously cheap (about 50€) and after thinking it through, I decided to use it as daily driver as I'm not a mobile gamer anyways. I still have a backup iPhone SE for apps that won't work on Android without Google Play Services, but my iPhone is mostly off and often at home. I.e. only using it for banking etc.
sh2016, 17 Aug 2023Been using it since the time it was launched. Still running smoothly. Great phone. I am act... moresame here too. still a great phone after many years of using
Been using it since the time it was launched.
Still running smoothly.
Great phone.
I am actually worried if still such nice phones are made
Sad I'm going to have to recycle this 5 series phone - battery life (second battery 2 yrs old) down to a couple of hours in continual use, about 8 hrs on standby, frequent crashes even after full factory reset... Will certainly miss it. Any suggestions for a similar replacement, while I resurrect the series 2 interim?
6 full years as of this month. 6 magnificent years of 0 lag, stellar performance, perfect battery (when it's not degraded, of course, since I had it replaced 2 years ago), perfect layout of touch sensors, fastest fingerprint reader.
I remember, I was saving up for a while to buy this one, and eventually asked my cousin to bring it from the US to EU (it was a bit cheaper). Oneplus 5, it was a great pleasure, but life goes on (to some new Samsung probably, since I feel like this company isn't what it used to be).
Still my daily driver with the latest LinageOs
