Google "never followed through" with Android apps on Chromebooks? You are heavily misinformed and it is right on schedule...
AnonD-209854, 27 Sep 2016Chromebooks won't die, they'll just be upgraded to andromedaNever!
SwerveDude, 26 Sep 2016I think this would be a great thing for Google to do, but only if they could make an amazing d... moreDid you just call Windows 10 "half-baked software?"
Wow that's a lot to digest lol Just hope they don't drop the Chromebook brand name too and keep Pixel/Andromeda separate to lessen the confusion. Besides the price of a low-end Pixel 3 is crazy, Chromebooks and Chrome OS are all about affordability and online productivity, not to mention its platform is x86.
duh, 27 Sep 2016anything else that you want? It's not what I 'want', it's what Google 'needs' to take on biggies like Microsoft in the laptop market.
They all try to mimick macbook, but what they build amd produce is not even a shadow of macbook pro. Android apps on laptop? Those low quality apps? At least focus on improving linux
"For all whopping success with smartphones, Google never managed to get huge in the laptop realm. " Google search 'Chromebooks in schools'... these devices have become massive in the educational space where the combination of price, speed, simplicity and integration with managed educational services (drive, Google Classroom, collaboration features etc) are quite a revolution...beginning to outsell Ipads in schools...they are becoming 'huge' in that space.

Ummmm "Google never managed to get huge in the laptop realm."
You say that like it's over and they've failed.
It's not over, and for the record Chromebooks outsold Macs last quarter.
AnonD-102007, 27 Sep 2016If you want 1tb of storage then you have no idea what chromebooks are really for. It's all abo... moreCloud storage/computing only works in countries with decent internet.. that said very few like Japan, Korea, Lithuania, Romania where standard plans starts from 1Gb/s + I can imagine it can pick-up... But for example in UK (and majority of west EU) with last age 17Mb/s standard broadband and "ultra fast" at 40Mb/s everyone can forget about cloud based storage, US is even worse. So after you take away all major markets for "high-end" laptops, all major markets for "low end markets" (as they won't have fast enough internet) you are left with niche mid-market of selection of countries which has infrastructure for cloud computing, but are average in terms of market size. That is the reason why chromebooks were always niche products and will always be until we have issue with internet speeds in developer world.
If you want 1tb of storage then you have no idea what chromebooks are really for. It's all about the cloud and using google drive for storage rather than the laptop. I'm thinking about getting a chromebook but might hold of for a few months to see what comes of these rumours
Google needs to increase the inbuilt storage! Seriously 32/128gb for a laptop!! 1tb should be the starting variant just like 64/128gb should be for mobiles!!!
Chromebooks won't die, they'll just be upgraded to andromeda

This article goes wrong in the first paragraph. Chromebooks have been selling well. In the 1st quarter, Chromebooks outsold Macs:

AnonD-560664, 27 Sep 2016Why did you buy something that is not suited to your needs? That doesn't sound very smart.I've had every Nexus device. Bang for buck the Pixel C falls well short on all previous models, which are generally above average, imho. Does that make sense now, kid?
All they had to do was/is to make android tablet/notebook friendly. I mean remix OS already does this, why can't Google? Ooh yeah, that's because she wants to sell more of her BS online services.
I say if you have one good thing (android) adapt and use it. Android can be a full fledged OS if Google wants it. It supports mltiprocessing, multiwindow setups, multiple desktops, multiple resolutions and DPI since HONEYCOMB (android 3.0). Google has been slacking ever since (it's 5 years already! Do sth!)
AnonD-560664, 27 Sep 2016Why did you buy something that is not suited to your needs? That doesn't sound very smart.Curiosity I guess. Besides you cant be sure if something is ok for your needs until you own it or use it.
You could use android emulator on your computer to play games instead of wasting money and if Google releases it Microsoft will mock it like iPad pro saying that it can't open legacy applications. It's just a android tablet in a laptop's body.Windows is best in computers and you android fan boys most of you use Windows or thechrome books.
