Partnering with Yu (Indian Brand, a subsidiary of Micromax ) led them to this situation but also due to their inability to fix bugs timely got them into this mess. Cyanogen OS is cool, fully feature packed and for heavy users like me who wanna customize every aspect of the UI and have less of Google crapwares but the thing is, there are a lot of bugs. Cyanogen should sell itself to some company who can make the OS much more reliable.
AnonD-554260, 23 Jul 2016They brought this upon themselves when they decided to renege on OnePlus. It has been a sloe f... moreI remember what they said about OP after the divorce.
OP would probably sell only ONE unit without riding on the our brand name... Or something along those lines.
The thing about most Android buyers, most of us don't know or don't want to Root our phones and install custom ROM or kernel or whatever that means.
We just want a good UI that comes with the phone that is smooth, does not lag, etc.
Cyanogen needs to team up with a reputable hardware manufacturer that is not very good with their UI or the UI is famous for bloatware.
Too of my list is ASUS.
Else, team up with up and coming manufacturers like VIVO, LeTv or even OPPO but the last could be an issue given the connection to OP.
Just my opinion as a regular Joe who uses an android phone

Cyanogen tried to fix that and make the OS more reliable, but it seems not even they can do it.
Still glad that I've switched to a Windows phone and all those Android issues are now a thing of the past. I can't imagine why someone would actually want to buy Android phones that are anything more than midrangers; really can't find any valid reasons...

IshuSam, 24 Jul 2016They chose India (micromax) over china (OPO) bcoz micromax sales figures are double of OPO.Micromax yu first phone was a disaster by software. There was a bug causing black screen when calling costs Micromax really huge money. Because people returned their phone that made a bad image for yu phones. I myself returned 3 yureka and finally get a refund. Cyanogen couldn't fix the bug in time. Thats how their marriage ended......

The decision to flank with Micromax is indeed becoming a poignant one; congratulations for ditching OnePlus.
IIRC, it was Kirt McMaster the CEO who once said that Cyanogen wanted to "put a bullet through Google's head". Instead they shot bullets through their own foot. How can he trash-talked Google when Cyanogen's very base was founded on top of Android ?
Remember when Steve Kondik bragged he wanted to put a bullet through Google's head?
ROFLMAO!! Well champ you just blew your brains out stead.
Too bad. With google releasing buggy android versions, we need good alternatives really.
