But google photos saved my life when I had to take a lot of photos in a remote place with no computers but at least with 4g service. Goggle photos was backing up all the pictures. My phone got wet because we needed to cross a river. My phone was damaged. I hoped that I could dry the phone and extract the photos when I arrive home, but nothing. I went to the computer and like magic, all my photos were there after I logged in my google account. So, I don't know but google photos just works for me.

Amongst the initial setup steps I undertake after purchasing a new phone is to disable stuff like Google Photos. Don't know how explicitly authorizing unknown people to have my photos is considered a neat idea. This is pure laziness and lack of organization in life.
I backup all photos on my phone to my computer and backup HDD from time to time and after trips.
This app is good maximum - all I have - photos - videos and the like are there - even with this support GOOGLE - just time. I hope that never goes out or google have to take it - could exchange it for another better - the way it is - is very good - but GOOGLE always better - Congratulations GOOGLE ...
AnonD-518016, 28 May 2016Hmmm... 13.7 petabytes. I wonder how much Google has spent for hosting and maintaining those m... moreIn terms of cubic size it's not much... Think of it... A petabyte is 1000 terabytes. Some storage companies sell 8 tera drives, that are the size of a regular HDD. so A petabyte is about 125 of those drives. A state of the art HDd rack holds 15 HDD so you would need 10 Racks. That times 24 then 240 HDD racks. A rack holder holds 30 of the HDD racks so you only need 8. So all in all is actually not much... And this is not counting that most of this would be in cold storage.

13.7 petabytes is nothing compare to youtube's data
how much the youtube storage ?!
whats a petabyte??
Hmmm... 13.7 petabytes. I wonder how much Google has spent for hosting and maintaining those monstrous data and how much it gets benefit from it. Anyway thank you Google for this. My whole photo library is now Google Photos.
Must be pretty sad to be using Google Photos/Drive/Hangouts/etc.
Nobody cares about these services and those who do, well, they're stuck in the past and they need to evolve to the present day.
